A traffic police officer has won praise for maintaining professionalism in an encounter with an agitated motorist recently.

The motorist recoded the encounter on his cellphone and it found its way to social media, Briefly.co.za gathered.

Twitter parody account @AdvBarryRoux posted it on its profile yesterday. He wrote, "Well done to this officer for keeping calm and professional. Should've arrested them both."

In the video, the unnamed motorist is heard questioning the also unnamed officer why he was giving him a parking ticket.

The cop even asked the motorist to face the camera towards him so that everything is above board.

When the cop tried to drive off to fetch a car guard who was apparently a witness, the motorist seemingly tried to block his exit.

At this point, he decided to arrest him for impeding his work. He's heard saying, "You can record me as much as you want, but I'm going to arrest you." A woman is also seen intervening.

Social media users applauded the officer for the calm and professional manner in which he handled the situation.
