Junior Mmotla is the founder and creative force behind local clothing brand, Mamagasehome.
Mmotla reveals he’s not suited to a 9 – 5 job and his passion for sharing his vision with the world led him into the world of fashion design.
He describes Mamagasehome as a local brand with street-wear aesthetic.
“MAMAGASE” means strong beam of light and the idea is to showcase South Africa’s take on design and trends to the world.
Mmotla believes that access to resources and facilities provide the biggest challenge to young entrepreneurs in the fashion industry.
He says, “I feel they are more accessible to either members of other industries or those with huge banks.”
In an interview with Threads, Mmotla shares that his favourite parts of the industry are meeting like-minded people and when people express their love for his clothing.
Mmotla was a finalist of the 12-week program.
