Mzansi can actually claim a little international pride from British actor Daniel Radcliffe.
Having been in the public eye for many years and being the face of the insanely popular franchise Harry Potter, there was a lot that we never knew about the talented actor.
Briefly.co.za learnt that when his big box office movie The Woman in Black came out, Radcliffe made a statement that shocked many. He has some South African blood in him.
“I’m a complete mutt. I have South African, Polish, Russian, Jewish and Northern Irish Protestant in me,” Radcliffe said.
Radcliffe mother was born in South Africa as his grandfather came from here. He never went into too much detail about his mother’s upbringing as his grandfather was not the greatest of men, according to News 24.
Hi grandfather was the reason that his mom and grandmother left the country.
The Harry Potter series is something that has defined his career. However, Radcliffe has stared in major Broadway productions, stared in supernatural thriller’s, and even romantic comedies.
Radcliffe has had his fair share of negative media. He went through a pretty rough patch that led him down a path of lust and substance abuse, but it never stopped him from being a phenomenal actor.
Daniel Radcliffe’s own net worth is currently placed at $110 million (R1 607 309 000,00).
One of his South African heart strings lies in the game of cricket. Radcliffe stated that he would like to travel to SA and watch a match between South Africa and England in Durban sometime.
Even though he is not from SA, it is nice to know that one of our own gave birth to such a legendary actor.
