Dale Steyn has broken cricket legend Shaun Pollock's record as highest wicket-taker in South African history. Steyn, who is a legend in the making himself, broke the record on the 26th of December when he took a total of 422 wickets.
Dale Steyn made history at Centurion in the Proteas' game against Pakistan. Steyn became the highest wicket-taker in South African Test cricket history.
This record was previously held by cricket icon Shaun Pollock, who stood at 421 wickets.
On 26 December, Steyn took out Pakistan's opener, Fakhar Zaman, to get himself a total of 422 wickets, officially beating the old record.
Briefly.co.za gathered that Steyn began on his road to becoming the record holder way back in 2004 when his first Test wicket was Marcus Trescothick from England.
Since then, Steyn has been working up quite a reputation as one of the best and most destructive fast bowlers in Test history.
Steyn has risen to the 11th spot on the list of all-time wicket-takers in Test cricket. New Zealand's Zealand's Richard Hadlee sits at 10th with an impressive 431 Test wickets.
Such a moment had to celebrate on social media, and South Africans were proud to congratulate Steyn.
