Prince Kaybee has indirectly but undeniably declared his song, Banomoya, track of the year. The track is competing against songs like Idibala and Asiphelelanga for the title of SABC Summer Song of the Year.
Prince Kaybee was doing his thing at the OR Tambo Homage Concert in Bizana when the crowd was hungry for more of his music.
As a report by the Daily Sun indicates, the crowd was screaming for an encore, and the musician happily obliged, while also calling Banomoya the track of the year.
You guys are asking me to play the song of the year again and I shall obey.
Banomoya is one of the popular songs that are facing off against each other for the title of track of the year.
Among the other contenders for SABC Summer Song of the Year title, are Vusi Nova’s Asiphelelanga and King Monada’s Idibala.
Briefly.co.za gathered that Kaybee's Banomoya was released 2 years ago, but was only noticed this year. It has grown in popularity since then.
However, Kaybee says he didn't make the song with the hope to win an award.
The purpose was not to be nominated for this particular competition but to give people good music. I’m not shaken by newcomers because one big song does not guarantee you a music career. A musician should be able to give us good music for more than 15 years.
Kaybee feels that he's been delivering good music for years, not only this year.
I’ve been in the industry for so long. I’ve always made good music. I’ve built my brand already.
