- A woman forgot her handbag at a shopping centre in Pretoria
- Solomon, a car guard, found it and handed it over to a Woolworths store
- The woman returned and found the handbag and all its particulars intact
Car guards across the country are proving to be among the most honest people around.
The latest case is one of Solomon, who is based at Wonderboom shopping centre in Pretoria. He found a handbag that a woman had forgotten in a Woolworths trolley recently.
An honest Solomon handed it over to the Woolworths store, where the woman later found it intact when she returned.
The unnamed woman then shared the inspiring story on Positive Racial Sentiments in SA's Facebook page, Briefly.co.za gathered. She wrote:
I left my handbag yesterday, due to total neglect, in a trolley at Wonderboom Junction. This man, Solomon gave it in at Woolworths. I went to fetch my handbag this morning and everything was still as it was. A very very thank you to Solomon.
Commenters applauded Solomon for his honesty. Charmaine Strauss even said such honesty should be rewarded:
I often wonder if all these Good Samaritans are rightfully rewarded for their honesty and kindness. After all, it's not what you say (thank you) that shows your gratefulness but your deed of giving back, but I'm sure most people do reward honesty.
Others like Sharyn Carr shared similar stories:
I was once busy speaking to the Vincent Park Woolies manager when one of their own security returned a fat beautiful purse!! I asked if they were recognised for their honesty and it would appear they employ really fine security and it is.
