MTV’s reality show, Catfish, has become very popular in recent years.
With the rise of social media and online dating, many people hide behind fake identities and profiles in an attempt to deceive others.
The show aims to investigate and reveal the true identities in such cases.
While South Africa doesn’t have its own version of the show, tweeps were treated to something similar when a video was shared by twitter user, @HannaSankara (Hannah Sankara).

The video shows a man screaming at a middle-aged lady at a fast food restaurant.
A caption accompanies the footage as follows: “Granny pretends to be a young girl on Facebook and now the young man ain’t having it, he wants his money for the date and transport.”
Tweeps couldn’t believe the situation but most found it hilarious.
While some sympathised with the man, others felt that online dating always comes at a price.
However, the origins of the video were questioned as well.
