- Rapper K.O feels that the passion has been lost
- Artists are not able to be only artist these days, they need other forms of income too
- It is not always up to the artist as they need to make a stable income and lasting name
When one has been in a profession for over 10 years you generally have a good idea how things work. K.O. has been rapping for over a decade and is of the opinion that you cannot only drop hits but have to create something bigger outside of the music world.
K.O. was speaking to TshiaLIVE, and commented that with hip-hop you have to be up and in fans faces to be able to be entrusted and to be in the limelight otherwise you will be left in the backseat and find yourself inconspicuousness.
Due to this, musicians have found themselves in the situation where they have to seek other avenues and start their own companies.
Briefly.co.za learnt that being in the hip-hop business, having that one big song or album, no longer counts. The musicians are having to branch out and become entrepreneurs outside of their passion. They are creating new ideas outside of their craft.
Even though it might not be what rappers want, but it has become a necessity if they are to survive in the industry.
K.O. went on to say, that just like Diddy and Jay have done, rappers need to think out of the box.
They are needing to accomplish something else and to make a name for themselves in that specific field. It is surely testing the talent of the musicians.
In order for this to be a success, hip-hop artists need to support each other and the musicians have to have faith in their own brand!
The hip-hop artist went on to say that the industry is a real tough place to be in and he has witnessed so many fall. The key is to be proactive and not sit around and wait, they need to go out and push their brands as being a rapper isn’t just about music anymore!
