Maskandi musician Indlamlenze feels that the music genre is still not reaching its potential and wants to do what he can to bring it to masses. He wants to fill up Moses Mabidha stadium and says he's inspired by Cassper Nyovest.
After Cassper Nyovest's major success at filling up Moses Mabidha stadium, Indlamlenze, the maskandi music star, is drawing inspiration from it and wants to do the same.
Indlamlenze wants to fill up Moses Mabidha and bring maskandi to more South Africans.
The musician, who won the favourite music artist award during the 2nd Annual DStv Mzansi Viewers' Choice Awards, feels that maskandi music is not reaching SA's youth.
Maskandi has always been associated with older people. Young people were not part of the genre. Since our arrival as the youth, were are erasing that image of associating maskandi with older people.
Indlamlenze feels he has enough support to pull off the fill up dream, according to a report by eNCA.
However, Briefly.co.za gathered that the musician thinks there is a belief that maskandi music is not 'cool'.
When there are Jazz festivals, they include maskandi, gospel, and gqom festivals include maskandi. That eliminates the myth that maskandi is not cool.
That's what has been causing maskandi to be undermined but since our arrival as the younger generation, we are trying to get maskandi to be respected like other genres.
Indlamlenze is now calling on fellow maskandi artists to unite and bring the music to more of South Africa.
