President Ramaphosa calls on South Africa's youth to register to vote

It's not long now until South Africans will be lining up to vote in the general elections of 2019. With that in mind, President Ramaphosa told the South African youth that they must register to vote.

During his official new year message, President Ramaphosa asked the South African youth to register and vote in the upcoming general elections.

The president called on the youth to participate actively in South Africa's transformation and said every citizen can make a meaningful difference.

We urge all our people, particularly the youth, to register to vote and to exercise their responsibility as patriotic citizens of our great nation. In 2019, we must raise our hands, each one of us, in the spirit of Thuma Mina.

President Ramaphosa added that it will take national effort to build on the progress of 2018.

We’ll need a huge national effort to build on the progress made in 2018 in restoring our country to a path of growth and progress.
We’ll need to take extraordinary measures and work together to take some difficult decisions given the challenges that lie ahead.
