A woman was deeply upset when she came out of her local shopping centre only to find her car had been stolen.

She had parked it right next to a vehicle that was the exact same as hers, but when she had finished her shopping, it was gone.

The Daily Sun reported that the incident happened earlier in December in Nova Scotia, Canada.

However, shortly after the woman approached the police about her stolen vehicle, it was returned to where it was 'stolen'. And with a full tank of fuel to boot!

It turned out that the 'thief' was the owner of the other vehicle that was parked next to hers and he accidentally got into hers, thinking it was his car.

Briefly.co.za gathered that the man had driven around for a short while when he realised it's not his, and he filled the tank before returning to where his car was still parked.

The grateful woman paid the man for the fuel and was very relieved that her car wasn't stolen after all.
