- Gourav Mukhi became the youngest ever goal-scorer in the Indian Super League at 16 years of age
- However, it later emerged that he was much older and has since been suspended for 6 months
- This was not the first time he was punished for lying about his age
Gourav Mukhi went from zero to hero within a few months.
He was hailed as the youngest ever goal-scorer in the Indian Super League in October when he scored for Jamshedpur FC against Bengaluru FC.
The 16-year-old received a lot of attention for scoring that historic goal.
As a result, many viewed footage of the young man and started questioning his age.
Mukhi had quite a lot of facial hair and developed biceps for someone so young.
Oddity Central have now reported that an investigation was conducted and Mukhi had indeed been misleading all with his age.
Incredibly, he isn’t just a few years older but is actually 28 years old.
He’s received a 6 month suspension from the league as a result.
Briefly.co.za understands that Mukhi is no stranger to deception as he was found out 3 years prior as well.
At that time, he participated in the National U16 Football Championship and was suspended following evidence of his true identity.
Sportskeeda reported that he was deemed to be considerably overage by the Indian football’s governing body, All India Football Federation (AIFF).
