The North West province boasts the top student in both Mathematics and Physical Science in 2018.
Bergsig Academy’s David Mark Dodkins achieved highest grades in both subjects.
2nd place in Mathematics went to Timothy Schleisinger, who attended Rondebosch Boys' High School in the Western Cape.
Another Western Cape high school featured as Instebenziswano High School boasted the 2nd placed Physical Science student in Kamva Goso.
News 24 reported that Top spot in Technical Mathematics went to Phiwayinkosi Mhlongo from Gauteng’s Bona Comprehensive School.
Gauteng boasted the learner who finished 2nd in Tetelo Comprehensive School’s Lungiswa Sibisi.

The Department of Basic Education shared the top performers in each of the 5 quintiles as well – where quintile 1 represents the schools which cater to the poorest 20% of pupils from each province and quintile 5 reflects the least poor.
Briefly.co.za noted that Tsebo Secondary School in the Free State featured the top performer in quintile 1.
The top guns in the Quintile 5 were Rustenburg Girls High School’s Justine Crook, Dodkins and Jarrod Staples from Westville Boys’ High School in KwaZulu-Natal.
