Fikile Mbalula took the opportunity at a recent media briefing this Thursday to clarify something we have all been wondering, will questionable characters be allowed to return to Parliament just because they were nominated for the party list?

The ANC head of the election, Fikile Mbalula, spoke to media at a recent briefing on the upcoming 107th anniversary celebrations as well as their manifesto launch.

Mbalula had confirmed that ANC members will undergo a process which looked at the integrity of the proposed leaders.

He revealed that dodgy characters, such as disgraced ex-minister Malusi Gigaba, might not return to Parliament.

Mbalula explained that this process would be the last of the undertakings to finalise the list of members for Parliament.

Ex-minister Gigaba had resigned amid controversy which included allegations of state capture.

Mbalula had said the ANC plans that 50% women and 20% younger people will serving in Parliament on their behalf.

“We are no longer just sending old people to Parliament. We will look into the list in terms of balance,” he explained.
