- Amanda Ngubane has been offered a learnership
- Her employer has to register her with a professional body
- However, this isn't possible because her university withheld her degree certificate because of unpaid fees
A young woman from Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, risks losing a learnership opportunity because of unpaid fees.
Amanda Ngubane took to Twitter to appeal for help, Briefly.co.za gathered. She explained:
I'm about to lose a job opportunity because I didn't receive my certificate (Accounting Degree) when I graduated in 2016 due to unpaid fees. I had a bursary from @fasset_sa and somehow they didn't pay all my fees. Please help. @EFFSouthAfrica @Julius_S_Malema @samkelemaseko
In a reply to a tweet from a concerned follower, Amanda said her prospective employer has to register her with a professional body.
However, the body has declined to register her without the certificate, which the University of Zululand has withheld. The opportunity might therefore slip away from her.
Amanda didn't disclose the outstanding fees amount. She revealed that she has been using a letter from her university to get internships, but this time it isn't enough.
