A group of MKMVA members stormed the offices of the provincial African National Congress headquarters in Durban, KZN today
Umkhonto weSizwe military veterans association members stormed the offices of the ANC headquarters in KwaZulu-Natal today.
This comes in response to the ANC as well as the president's presence in the province ahead of the January 8 birthday celebrations for the political party.
According to the Citizen, the president had been on the south coast of the province when the events transpired.
MKMVA provincial head, Themba Mavundla, has said that he had known about the incident but did not know the reason why. He did, however, divulge that the members involved were from the eThekwini branch.
“I am waiting to get more information. The branches are allowed to do their own thing, they don’t have to alert the provincial structures. I don’t yet know what their grievances are,” he told ANA.
Nomagugu Simelane-Zulu, ANC spokesperson for the region, as well as the South African Police Service, could not be reached for comment.
