Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema has sent his best wishes to the 2018 matric class, 2019 Grade 1 learners, and the 2019 back-to-school generation.
Briefly.co.za learned that Juju sent his message via a video posted on EFF's Twitter account yesterday. He began by saying:
Happy new year fellow South Africans. I want to take this opportunity to congratulate the class of 2018 ... [and] the class of 2019 which is starting its journey tomorrow, particularly the Grade 1s who are going to be travelling this journey for the next 12 years.
No child should be sent away from school on the basis of the colour of his skin or on the basis that they do not have money.
He called on influential people, including politicians and celebrities, to support schools across the country.
The EFF leader also urged the Department of Basic Education to ensure that textbooks and roadworthy scholar transport are available on time.
We would never realise economic freedom in our lifetime if we do not attain proper decolonised education. I thank you.
