Video of Grade R class has Mzansi calling for higher teacher salaries

A touching video capturing the challenges Grade R teachers face led South Africans to declare that their salaries should be increased.

Twitter user, Tshipfumi (@MukomaJnr), shared a video clip which moved numerous South Africans.

The short clip shows a Grade R learner in tears with a pen in her hand and book on the desk.

Her teacher approaches and checks what the problem is.

The little girl then responds by saying that she doesn’t know how to write.

In a beautiful moment, her teacher then encourages her by reminding her of how intelligent she is and that she can do it if she tries.

The video has a cute ending as well as the young leaner then declares to the teacher that she has Simba chips in her bag.

Briefly.co.za can’t confirm if her intention was to share it with her loving teacher for her efforts or if she felt it was necessary for the trauma caused by the writing task.

Tweeps found the young pupil adorable and praised the inspirational teacher.

According to one of the comments, an average Grade R teacher salary is in the region of R2500 per month – which prompted many to call for a massive increase.
