South Africans were left surprised after they found out Jackson Mthembu, 60, had a son starting his school career this year.
On Wednesday, proud dad Jackson Mthembu took to his Twitter account to gush about his son, Xolani, who had his first day in grade one.
Mthembu explained his wife accompanied their son to his first day at his new school, and the ANC spokesperson made sure to share adorable photos of the special occasion.
While many congratulated Mthembu on the special day, Briefly.co.za gathered some South Africans were left shocked that a man of his age had such a young child.
One tweep in particular had South Africans in stitches with her response to Mthembu's post.
Social media user @MissPrue5 commented: "Yhoo u also have a bundle of joy in grade 1? Whoever is supplying ANC members with viagras is making alot of money because all ANC MPs are supportive of that business."
The post had social media users in stitches and it was even shared by Twitter parody account Man's Not Barry Roux.
However, the tweet offended other South Africans, who called out @MissPrue5.
Twitter user @SNodayizana wrote: "This comment is so uncalled for and inhuman in many ways, but I'm not suprised looking at you twitter fake name anyway."
