Ramaphosa has emergency meeting with Zambian president to discuss DRC conflict

President Cyril Ramaphosa put the ANC anniversary festivities on hold to host an emergency meeting in Durban with Zambian President Edgar Lungu. The meeting had been to discuss the recent DRC elections and various related issues

Taking a break from campaigning in the KZN province, President Cyril Ramaphosa hosted an emergency meeting with Zambian President Edgar Lungu to discuss the current situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The Zambian president is currently the SADC Chair of the Organ on Politics, Defence and Security Co-operation.

Lindiwe Sisulu ( SA International Relations Minister) as well as Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula ( Defence Minister) and the Zambian delegation had attended.

The elections recently took place in the DRC but the results thereof have yet to be released. In some parts of the country voting had been cancelled due to security concerns as well as an Ebola epidemic.
