- Veteran actor Hlomla Dandala accused of reckless tweeting
- He was called out by fellow actor, Pamela Nomvete on social media
- The two actors engaged in a heated debate online
South African actors Hlomla Dandala and Pamela Nomvete were caught in a heated exchange over xenophobia on social media yesterday.
It was started by Dandala sharing his thoughts, on social media, about foreign nationals, as he was traveling through Johannesburg.
"Driving through Yeoville and Hillbrow reminds one of how much we’ve lost to foreign African nationals. Call it xenophobia all you like but truth is truth"
The former Isidingo star’s post was met with divided opinions, with many finding his words offensive - among those, was the former Generations actress, Pamela Nomvete.
Nomvete called the post reckless, before the two engaged in a heated debate.
South Africa has battled with a rise of xenophobic attacks in these last few years, with several fatal incidences reported. Briefly.co.za reported on one such incident last year, when residents of Krugersdorp set fire to immigrants’ homes, accusing them of drug dealing.
