Storm Matodzi is the man behind the hottest trends in the South African entertainment industry. The cool kid from Johannesburg has worked his magic on the likes of AKA, Nasty C and even international singing sensation and style icon Jhene Aiko.
Storm has been responsible for the bold and eccentric styles of South African musos for six years now and has blessed an impressive 130 music videos with his keen sense of style. He says he was the first black person to style the hit reality show Idols South Africa, revolutionizing the show and making it appealing to a much larger audience.
The Lemba (a Venda tribe) man’s culture and background adds a rich texture to his work, which adds a unique African flavour to modern designs and pop culture, Briefly.co.za found.
The talent is self-taught, having dropped out of school to follow his own passions. In an interview with the Sowetan, Storm says he was introduced into the world of fashion by his girlfriend, who appreciating his fine dress sense, asked him to style the men on her set.
As a designer, you may have a good product, but to ensure it really pops and becomes the must-have product for the season, all you need is Storm’s creative touch.
It isn’t just the products and glamour that gets Storm excited about his craft. Storm says it’s knowing that he’s helping people feel good about themselves.

Storm also builds relationships with his clients, allowing both himself and his client to grow and develop in their trade. Reflecting on his past year, Storm says he is proud of his relationship with Nasty C, noting that fans of the rapper can see the progression in his image and style.
Stormy offers some advice for those looking to live their best and most beautiful life this year.

There are big things on the horizon for the stylist. He is currently devolving his own brand and planning on going international and collaborating with Gemini Major as well as the Holmes brothers.
