A social media user uploaded videos that allegedly showed teachers at a pre-school in Midriver, Kempton Park, abusing and insulting the children.
Videos emerged on Twitter of children at a well-known pre-school in Kempton Park allegedly being abused by their teacher, sparking outrage among South African parents. Sending their little angels to pre-school is difficult enough for parents, without them having to be concerned that their young children are being abused by their teachers.
The school in Kempton Park, ironically named, Smiley Kids, allegedly charges R2 300 per month for children to be taken care of and educated, Briefly.co.za learned.
The videos which were shared on social media platform, Twitter, shows a teacher allegedly laying on top of the children while they slept and allegedly using racial slurs.
Users of the social media platform were outraged and advised parents to check up on the schools where they leave their children, and not to take it for granted that their children are safe.
Facebook users called for the name of the school to be made public and to be taken to the ‘court of public opinion’ to rectify the issue.
A Facebook user, Lynelle Davids commented that people who are looking to make money by starting a business, start creches even though they are not suited or qualified for the job.
“They have no compassion, empathy or the skills to have children in their care yet for the money they will do it!!! Crèche is such a vital milestone its where they learn most of life’s key lessons…,” she writes.
Another user, Ray Neetling argued that if he were in the same position as the parents of the learners, he would be angry and remove his children from the school.
