- Mzansi was in a state on Friday after seeing Nomuzi 'crash' her car during a live stream
- Nomuzi came out and stated that the 'car crash' was just a stunt for a campaign against drinking and driving
- Many were completely shook by the incident, but Nomuzi did apologise and state that, that was not her intention
Well, if you weren’t already sceptical about what you see on social media, you are now. Nomuzi Mabena knocked Mzansi for a six with this one. The whole car crash thing has been confirmed to have been nothing more than a publicity stunt.
Mzansi went into a downward spiral of panic when a large number of fans saw Nomuzi crash her car whilst she was live on Instagram. People were losing their minds.
Briefly.co.za learnt that in a media statement Nomuzi confirmed that the ‘car crash’ was all just a publicity stunt. What a wow, not cool at all.
The whole stunt was part of a campaign for Volkswagen and Drive Dry. It was meant to cause awareness about the dangers of drinking and driving, but it seems that all it did was shock people to the point of drinking.
Nomuzi said that the stunt was meant to ‘spark a dialogue between South Africans’ and make them discuss the impact of drinking and driving.
A video of how the ‘car crash’ was staged, was released so that people could see that it was all just a stunt, nothing more.
Despite the good cause behind this all, we still cannot ignore the fact that hundreds of people were left devastated and in panic. This probably was not the best way to go about this, but it definitely reached a ton of people.
The star said that she was sorry if she caused ‘distress to any fans, friends or family’, but she believes strongly in the campaign and hopes that she will be able to save lives by having done this.
