Video shows quick thinking motorist outsmarting 4 armed hijackers

Yet another video has gone viral on social media which showed hijackers attempting to steal a vehicle in Morningside, Johannesburg.

On 9 January, four armed were caught on CCTV camera, attempting to hijack a maroon Land Rover.

According to Intelligence Bureau SA, who posted to video on Facebook, the infamous Rolex Gang was behind the attempted hijacking. However, their attempts proved futile as the driver outsmarted them.

Briefly.co.za gathered the incident took place at a complex in Morningside, Johannesburg, last week.

A maroon Land Rover pulled up to the entrance of the complex and was moments later followed by a silver Volkswagen.

However, the driver seemed to catch onto what is happening quite quickly and before the armed thugs were out of the car, the motorist rammed through the gates.

Different angles from CCTV footage showed the hijackers following the SUV, but they ended up retrieving shortly afterwards.

A lot of social media users had questions for the security guards, who allegedly did nothing. However, some defended the guards, adding they were not paid enough to put their lives at risk.

David W Guthrie wrote: "Security are being paid R3500/month. Would you put your life on the line for that? I'd lay out the red carpet."
