Imagine losing your father while in grade 8 and then your mother is murdered 2 years later.
That was the stark reality Daniëllé Potgieter was faced with.
Her father died of a heart attack as the Hoërskool Centurion student started her high school career.
Tragically, while in grade 10, her mother was murdered by her employees.
Potgieter says, “Two years later, in grade 10, my mother was murdered by her workers. People I would have never expected to do something like that.”
Centurion Rekord reported that the love and support Potgieter received from her new family gave her the strength to persevere and look forward instead of being bitter.
Briefly.co.za gathered Potgieter to be a well-rounded student as well – she played in the school hockey team, served as a prefect and excelled in cross country running.
Potgieter managed to achieve 2 distinctions along with an overall average of a very impressive 76.3%.
The brave young lady credits God for enabling her to live up to her full potential.
