According to the Kwaito star Eugene Mthethwa, South Africa's Arts and Culture Minister, Nathi Mthethwa wants him dead. Apparently, the minister is sour because Eugene accused him of corruption last year.
The veteran Kwaito musician Eugene Mthethwa was speaking at the memorial service of another music legend, Dan Tshanda when he said Minister of Arts and Culture, Nathi Mthethwa, is after him.
According to a report by SowetanLIVE, the musician said Minister Mthethwa was planning a hit on him.
Eugene said a friend warned him to stay away from Durban, where the ruling party launched its manifesto.
The minister is apparently very bitter over accusations Eugene made against him last year.
Eugene accused the minister of illegally using state funds to fund Tony Kgoroge's organisation, Cultural and Creative Industries Federation of SA.
Briefly.co.za gathered that the organisation is focused on the rights of artists in South Africa.
I'm supposed to be in Durban today but I was tipped that I shouldn't go to Durban because I might be assassinated because I exposed minister Nathi Mthethwa in front of the president. I was telling the truth, I didn't expose him.
TimesLIVE reported that the minister is taking legal action against Eugene over the accusations.
