Breaking into the music industry is hard, and no one knows that better than musician Sjava. He took to Twitter recently to reflect on the difficulties he faced before getting his break.

The singer shared how he once had a girlfriend who was not happy about his constant touring and sacrifices made for his career.

He goes on to say that she thought he was too old to get into the music industry. He, however, refused to let his dream die.

"When my ex dumped me for going to a radio tour saying why am I wasting my time and making a fool of myself because I am too old this music thing won’t work, 'This song right here The Devil in a New Dress' is what kept me going"

His fans were more than curious about which ex said these things and what the ex is saying now that Sjava is a household name. But the BET award winner refused to disclose the mystery woman’s identity. He did however deny confirm that it was not one of the women guessed by fans on his social media.

The singer has previously spoken about the hardships he faced before his career blew up. Briefly.co.za learnt that he once performed at a gig where only the cleaners seemed to appreciate his music. But he has come a long way since then.

His journey has seen him win international acclaim and had one of his songs in the Marvel blockbuster, ‘Black Panther’ soundtrack.

The star still insists that he is not in it for the fame.

We can’t help but wonder what Sjava’s ex is thinking now.
