On Thursday night, the driver of a white Ford Ranger bakkie sped away after filling up his vehicle and tanks with diesel worth R3 000.
Crime takes place on a daily basis in different forms- for example, one South Africans swiped a petrol station with diesel worth R3k.
A CCTV clip of the incident was posted on social media on Friday by the Global Emergency RAPID Response and Crime Prevention Team GCF forum.
According to the post, the incident took place at the Tzaneen Engen garage on Thursday night, Briefly.co.za gathered.
"Please BOLO. Engen Tzaneen Last night at around 21h00 a customer filled R3000 diesel into empty containers and drove off. White Ford ranger REG: CA22099 bakkie. Case registered on 2019-01-11 at TZANEEN ref nr CAS 160/1/2019 @SAPoliceService @stolencarRSA @Abramjee @CrimeLookoutS," the post read.
South Africans were quick to offer solutions to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Social media user @Jagman05580158 commented: "This is how prepaid self service fuel pumps became popular overseas. Is @SAPoliceService not able to draw ownership info from number plates so we can circulate it on these streets?..."
Becks, who goes by the Twitter handle @Becks_Singwane, wrote: "Solution. Attendants should put wheel locker on the wheels then pour petrol then remove them after simple."
