Update: Self-schooling boy's dream comes true, attends 1st day of school

Siboniso's dream of going to school has finally been realised after South Africans managed to raise over R76k for his education.

According to Good Things Guy, the young boy, 11, who has autism, attended his first day at school recently.

The Angle Network, who started a crowdfunding campaign for Siboniso, shared a photograph of him and his dad at school.

"To each and every person who donated to Siboniso, the 11 year old autistic child who desperately wanted to go to school and used to sit under a tree watching his peers at school, THANK YOU! SIYABONGA! NKOSI KAKULU! DANKIE! GRACIAS! MERCI BEAUCOUP! TODA RABA!"
"Pictured below is Siboniso Hlope with his Dad on his first day at school at Golden Hours in Durban North. The school specializes in teaching Autistic children. Siboniso will board weekly and come home for weekends. In his hands he is holding his stationery bag toiletries. Never again will he have to sit Al's watch others at school and that's all because of YOU," the post read.

A couple of months ago, Briefly.co.za shared Siboniso's heartbreaking story. The autistic boy was photographed under a tree, dressed in full school uniform with text books at hand.

According to reports, he would go to the tree each day to teach himself.
