Makgotso M has faced bullies and knows the pain and humiliation that people can cause each other. She now plays the role of a bully in the Showmax original The Girl from St. Agnes, a murder mystery that has Mzansi excited.
Makgotso M is a South African actress best known for her role as Kamogelo Tsotetsi in the popular TV series Isidingo.
The lovely actress also joined the cast of The Girl from St. Agnes, a Showmax original dark murder mystery that is fast becoming very popular.
Makgotso plays the role of a mean and intimidating bully, Moipone, which is quite ironic because she suffered under bullies in school herself.
TimesLIVE reported that Makgotso channelled some of her own emotions into her role.
The actress thought it would be an interesting challenge to play a bully after being on the receiving end when she was studying in the UK.
I have never played a bully. I have been bullied before so I thought, 'this will be interesting'. I loved playing the role though.
I went for the first few years of secondary school in the UK and it was so tough. I didn't channel that directly because I was on the other end of the bullying back then but I tap into it. But I drew from being in a space of being unapologetic more.
Briefly.co.za gathered that Makgotso said the TV series highlights issues that young people of today have to face, like the impact of the internet and social media on self-image.
I think audiences will pick up on that. It shows what some young people are getting up to and it's shocking really. I think sometimes parents forget what it is like to be young and the pressures it brings.
The Girl from St. Agnes premieres on Showmax on the 31st of January.
