Leader of the Democratic Alliance, Mmusi Maimane is calling for President Cyril Ramaphosa to cancel all BOSASA contracts with immediate effect. Maimane says that, in light of the new information, the R500 000 'donation' Ramaphosa received removes all doubt of his involvement in state capture.
The leader of the Democratic Alliance, Mmusi Maimane, is calling for President Cyril Ramaphosa to cancel all BOSASA contracts with immediate effect.
In a statement released earlier today, Maimane said that Angelo Agrizzi's testimony has ' shone a new light on how totally corrupt the ANC government is".
The president of the opposition party went on to say:
"Given this truly explosive testimony, I call on President Cyril Ramaphosa to instruct his government to immediately cancel all contracts and tenders with Bosasa and place a strict moratorium on any new contracts with the company or any of its subsidiaries,"
Maimane again called for the President to set up an independent inquiry directed soley at BOSASA, which has been re-branded as African Global Operations.
"The fact is that Ramaphosa received a R500 000 'donation' from a company that has been paying the ANC bribes since 1999. He can no longer mislead the public into believing that 'he did not know'
Maimane has also pointed out that Ramaphosa told Parliament that his son, Andile Ramaphosa, does work for BOSASA which he is generously compensated for.
"All of this appears no different to every other Bosasa bribe to the ANC since 1999,"
The opposition leader also wanted to know when he would be paying the R500 000 campaign donation he recieved from the CEO of BOSASA:
"Ramaphosa cannot play both sides. He cannot condemn state capture and set up inquiries into other ANC corruption, but avoid the same inquiries when the corruption involves him."
