- A picture showing separated black and white chickens left SA in stitches
- More images of 'segregated' animals emerged
- South Africans felt that being able to laugh at serious issues proved that the nation was healing
If there is anything that South Africans excel at, its finding the humour in any situation. You don’t have to look too far to find evidence of this either, just ask Twitter.
South Africans on social media have found a hilarious picture of black and white chickens segregating themselves, and are demanding that the head chicken responsible be taken straight to the ‘Chicken Rights Commission’.
The situation is one only George Orwell could have predicted and some users suggested that there may have been ‘fowl play’ involved.
There may have been different opinions about the situation, but everyone could agree that it had gotten entirely out of wing and that the pecking order must come to end.
Nevertheless, as another user pointed out, there’s nothing the Chicken Commission can do, after all, birds of a feather do tend to stick together.
Another user shared a similar image of pigs huddling together according to their colour, astounded that the pandemic was everywhere.
Chabi Kotleo rushed to the pigs defense, saying that it wasn’t racism, they just divided themselves according to the language they speak, echoing the reasoning made to justify a recent racial saga that has left South Africans even more divided.
The absurdity of the post highlights how trivial racial discrimination is and begs us to question why humans remain hell-bent on judging people based on the colour of their skin.
Anyway, South Africans shouldn’t be too concerned, as all the chickens, both black and white will come to be slaughtered in the end.
