- The EFF has been gearing up for its national list conference this weekend
- The party says it will use the process to select candidates with integrity
- The party is also expected to finalise its campaign plans at the conference
The EFF is finalizing is hosting its national list conference this weekend.
The event is set to take place outside Bloemfontein. It will see the party finalising its candidates for the upcoming elections.
Briefly.co.za has learned that EFF members are being called on one by one and given travel instructions. The process has unfolded with little media attention, but the party denies that it is deliberately keeping the public in the dark.
"This is an internal process and we don't want to create a culture of entitlement for positions here," said spokesperson Mbuyiseni Ndlozi.
Ndlozi added that the EFF was seeking honest, transparent candidates with clean political track records. He said that internal process would examine candidates and determine if they have been guilty of any ethics violations.
This comes after a rocky few weeks for the party in terms of PR, with one EFF Mpumalanga representative being arrested on hijacking charges and Ndlozi himself causing a social media stir after he accused all white people of being racist.
At the upcoming conference, the EFF is also expected to put the finishing touches on its campaigns plans and manifesto and prepare to launch its campaign in earnest.
