Local celebrity chef, Lesego Semenya, shared on social media how he found out his mother kept newspaper clippings of news about him for the past 9 years. He only found out about it while getting ready for her funeral.
South African celeb chef, Lesego Semenya, had a bittersweet moment while getting ready for his mother's funeral.
His father handed him an envelope, and inside was newspaper and magazine clippings that follow Lesego's career since 2010.
His mother had collected and kept the newspaper clippings as her own way of making a keepsake of what her son had achieved.
This touched Lesego, and he just had to share it with his fans on social media.
Whilst getting ready for my mom's funeral last week my dad handed me a folder. I didn't think anything of it...til I opened it. My mom had been collecting newspaper and magazine clippings I've been in since 2010.
10 years ago, Lesego quit his corporate job to pursue his passion - food. Today, the Soweto-born Lesego is an internationally recognised chef who has catered to a slew of local and international celebrities.
Briefly.co.za reported that Lesego was named one of Mail&Guardian's Top 200 Young South Africans for 2015.
No wonder his mother was so proud of him. All of Mzansi can be proud of Lesego.
