Election fever has hit Mzansi and you know it’s getting tense when politicians and celebrities are having it out on social media. Lerato Kganyago and ANC’s Fikile Mbalula were involved in a war of words recently, and the Metro FM DJ did not back down.
There are so many remarks on social media pertaining to the upcoming elections. Briefly.co.za previously reported that Lerato Kganyago took the opportunity to press her followers to be active in taking this time to question politicians. She discussed the “opportunistic presence" of politicians in the entertainment industry.
She also encouraged her followers to share the questions they may have for the parties ahead of the elections and she also shared her own.
The radio personality asked why political parties only recognised artists during election season. The question, meant to spark debate, caught the attention of Fikile Mbalula. The politician, who is known to be very vocal on the social media, responded.
But Lerato was not happy with his words, accusing him of trying to intimidate her:
“I don’t take kindly to intimidation and especially when I am asking a GENERIC question!”
Mbalula was quick to deny the accusations, and after a lengthy back and forth, the pair were able to let it go and move on after Mbalula apologised.
