Video shows South Africans stopping armed thug from robbing tourist

South Africans are fed up with crime and a couple of locals in Cape Town recently decided to take matters into their own hands.

On Thursday, a video was posted on social media which showed a couple of men apprehending an armed thug after he allegedly attempted to rob a Chinese tourist.

The footage showed the men mobilising the alleged assailant in a citizen's arrest. One of the men then explains to the person filming that he tried to rob a tourist.

According to the men, the suspect threatened the tourist with a knife. He allegedly tried to steal his cellphone and bag.

However, the men chased after him as he was attempting to flee on foot. Briefly.co.za heard the thug begging asking for forgiveness as the locals contained him until the cops arrived.

Social media users praised the men for being brave enough to pursue an armed man, and then catching him.

Social media user @andre_j_collins commented: "Well done men! The general feeling on the street is that people are sick and tired of crime and this just confirmed that. Thanks"
Ricky Singh, who goes by the Twitter handle @Rikkising, wrote: "Great stuff guys. This country is so crime ridden we must protect one another. Well done."
