Shoprite has suspended a Gauteng manager after he was caught on video, using foul language and provoking a physical fight in an altercation with an external service provider.
The food retailer suspended a manager pending an investigation after he was filmed in a heated fight with an external service provider in the store.
Shoprite added it strongly condemned the manager's actions and they have launched an investigation into the incident to gather all the facts. Thereafter, a disciplinary hearing would take place.
Briefly.co.za reported previously that a video went viral which showed a manager threatening an employee. However, it has since been revealed in other man in the altercation is an external service provider.
The manager was heard asking the service provider to meet him outside, hinting at a physical fight.
“Why don’t you meet me outside, let’s go," the manager said.
However, the other man manages to keep his cool and he turns down the manager's request to take the fight outside.
“Go join boxing if you want to fight, we are here to work,” the employee replied.
It is still unclear what sparked the fight.
