Within a matter of seconds, the ‘Rolex gang’ got away with daylight robbery at a Johannesburg petrol station.

CCTV footage shows how the men stopped at the garage with a silver SUV and raced to the victim’s white Toyota Corolla.

The victim was identified as Jorben Bumann, a German tourist on holiday with his wife.

The German couple made a pit stop to fill the tank of their rented vehicle when the men swiftly surrounded them.

The attackers demanded Bumann’s Rolex watch, his wallet and mobile phone.

They nabbed the watch, wallet and car keys and fled back to their vehicle.

SowetanLIVE reported that Bumann had since returned to Germany but his father, Klaus, commented on the incident.

Jorben was punched in the face and left bleeding. To add insult to injury, the couple were stranded for a few hours due to the missing keys.

Klaus shared his frustration with SAPS on various counts.

He revealed that a lot of time passed before police officers arrived at the scene.

He added, “A few days after the incident, we went to check up on the progress of the case and to our surprise were told there was no case opened.”

Klaus also expressed his anger at the officer’s refusal to accept video footage he collected as evidence.

Balan Muthan, a representative for Honeydew police, confirmed that a case had been opened but that it was in respect of pointing a firearm.

Briefly.co.za understands that 2 men linked to the gang were arrested on Tuesday.
