Raising a child into a responsible and contributing member of society is not easy. There are so many moments when parents think 'Am I doing the right thing?' and that's a question that isn't always answered.

But being a parent is one of the biggest joys in life. You get to see a small person grow into a self-thinking individual and that's something magical in its own way.

Twitter user Miss Avi decided to share some of her thoughts on parenting, and it was quite inspiring.

Here is what the mother had to say, in her own words:

Being a parent is truly no part time thing. Almost always my daughter makes me realise that. It's easy to get caught up in our necessities like providing and also checking on our own selves of the achievements and goals. But most of the time our kids need us to pay attention...
...to them on a personal level. Yes it's really not so easy because shuuu, God knows the things we go through as parents or even just as adults on a daily. But then again we have our little people that need us to pay all of our attention into what's going on with them in their...
...lives and inside of them. The kinda attention where you put your phone on silent facing upside down, turning the laptop the other way, bringing yourself to fully being present in that moment to listen & hear their heart. Hold their hand when needed, look at them humbly...
...with a heart, mind & spirit ready to learn from their issues & experiences as they tell them. And most of the time when you do that (listen & hear), you'll find that they're telling you the story of your younger self. So in it, it helps you too. You are able to help easily...
I urge that we as parents really put in more effort in our relationships with our children besides that of providing and being their "fake" friend. A friend is someone that listens and hears you when you speak, it's someone that makes time to be & spend with you. Let's be real...
...with our kids too. A conscious effort, a commitment to this very important relationship. I realised how important it is for my daughter that I speak into her life the miracle of her being. It's also important for me to do that because I get to help her navigate her life.

Speaking the truth not wishful thinking. I am of God so that's our foundation. We carry something everytime we are born into the physical, that's important to know. That we are not created for the same purpose for our existence here. We are unique as much as we're created by...
...the same God. We're here not to compete but serve our own as part of a big group but excel in our own. That's the basics and then there is love, kindness, hope, endurance, forgiveness which we need to be every single day anew. Let's be conscious friends with our children...
I hope this thread enlightens and helps a parent or two and helps the relationship of parent and child/ren. An awesome thursday to you all. #AskAvi
