A video has caused quite the stir on social media, showing a young lady getting a beating from alleged church members.
It is always upsetting to see someone getting physically assaulted, regardless of the reason for the attack. However, assault is not often associated with religion, since most religions condemn acts of violence.
Briefly.co.za gathered on Sunday, a video was posted on social media which showed a girl allegedly getting a beating for sinning. According to claims, church members allegedly dished out the beating.
Social media user @MrumaDrive shared the video, captioning it: "Some community church. She's been beaten for her Sin, is it okay or not Okay?"
The footage sparked outrage on social media, with South Africans condemning the alleged actions of the unidentified church.
Tshepo Epaphrus, who goes by the Twitter handle @Puffieno, commented: "Jesus Christ died for our sins, and He took the beating on our behalf. What they are doing is against the bible, who are they to judge that someone's sins deserve a judgement of a beating. Evil people."
Zakes, @zakesHuma, added: "Who is she to punish others? Is she deputy God?"
However, one tweep felt the incident was not associated with any church and it was simply a mother disciplining her child.
Raymond Zwane, @raymond_zwane, commented: "This is not and cannot be associated with church, a mother is simply disciplining her unruly child then for some reason someone wants to further their devilish interest by saying it happened in church or because of the church...mxm"
