Mzansi rapper, Nadia Nakai, is set to perform n an international stage, as the first female rapper from South Africa to perform at the South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas.

According to TshisaLive, the rapper was announced as one of the artists on the line-up alongside The Muffinz, DJ PH, Trbal, Tshego, Major League DJs, Anatii and Cassper Nyovest.

Nadia told TshisaLive that she is super nervous but excited by the chance to prove herself on an international stage.

She said it’s exciting to play for a new audience and also make those vital connections, she believes she was chosen because she has something unique to offer.

"Our (hip-hop) guys are doing big things internationally and it is up to me to show them that we (females) can also hold our own. That there are girls that are also holding it down here."

The Mzansi star said she hoped this gig will open doors for her in the overseas market.

She added that no matter what happens, she knows her fans will have her back. She said she just wants to impress the PR managers and music bosses abroad and convince them of what they are doing in SA is worth investing in and celebrating.

She said it’s too often that music scouts and international audiences head to Nigeria, but don’t come to SA.

Briefly.co.za reported that fans were expecting Nadia to release her much awaited album last year, following her hit single, Bragga, but to no avail.

However, two weeks ago, Family Tree Records (to which Nadia belongs) owner, Cassper Nyovest, said he's definitely seen Nadia’s improvement. and announced that Nadia is ready for her album to drop this year.
