Noma Khumalo has been out of the spotlight since winning Idols SA in 2016 and releasing her album. After a lukewarm response to the “rushed” project, the singer is back to reclaim her winning ways.
Noma’s journey on the show was not an easy but she managed to rise above all those who doubted her and win the 12th season of the popular TV show.
However, her debut album Joy, released immediately after winning Idols, did not do well.
According to an interview with Isolezwe, the singer believed that she was rushed to complete the album and was not able to take time to work on it properly.
Hopefully she can rise above the negativity and use the Idols platform to re-launch her career. It seems to be working for others, as we saw with last season’s contestant Thato, a crowd-favourite, buying his mother a brand new car. Briefly.co.za reported that Thato bought his mom the car for her birthday. So things are clearly going well for him post Idols.
Noma said that she took the lesson to learn how the music industry works and is now ready to release some new music.
"I took a break and studied the music industry under the new music label that I'm signed to. At first, it was my manager who did everything, but now I'm learning the ropes of how things are done in this industry."
Good for you, Noma!
