The Stellenbosch University Choir gave South Africa all the feels after their beautiful performance was shared on social media. The SU Choir’s rendition of Baba Yetu stunned the country, leaving the entire nation feeling proud to call South Africa home.
The choir performed at the Llangollen International Eisteddfod in Wales, placing first in several categories, Briefly.co.za learned.
The talented group won first prize in Mixed Choirs, Youth Choirs, Open Choirs. The conductor’s excellent work keeping the eclectic group in harmony also got some recognition and the choir won the prestigious ‘Award for Outstanding Conductor.
Currently, the choir is ranked number 1 of the Interkultuur World Choirs.
Social media applauded the groups soulful singing, and exclaimed that South Africa needs to continue nurturing its artistic talents, and give more recognition for outstanding achievements.
A social media user, Lisa Loftus, commented, “the intensity of spirit that runs through our veins listening to this should be an inspiration to our country.....if only we could just be a choir singing praise rather than hate.”
