Five years after making a promise to their friend, a couple could honour their word and give him a car. The Olivers gave Bongani Pholo, a Big Issue salesman, their car so he can have transport to pick up the newspaper that is his livelihood.
Jeremy Olivier and his wife met Bongani Pholo while he was selling newspapers on a street corner that they often passed.
They enjoyed talking to Bongani and soon became friends with him. They learned that he didn't have a car, and this made it difficult for him to pick up the newspapers that are his bread and butter.
Bongani sells Big Issue newspapers for a living, and the publisher helps many homeless and less fortunate people to better their lives.
The Oliviers promised Bongani that they would give him their car as soon as they can buy another for themselves.
And now, 5 years later, they could honour their promise, as reported on by goodthingsguy.co.za.
Briefly.co.za gathered that on 26 January Jeremy Olivier drove to the intersection where Bongani works to pick him up and take him to a nearby parking lot where his car was waiting for him.
Bongani had no idea and was taken completely by surprise.
The man was overwhelmed and emotional and got tearful.
I hope God will keep this family with love, peace, joy and unity so that they can receive a lot in the future. As they have blessed me, I hope that they are blessed too.
What a wonderful thing to do for your fellow man. The Olivier family is an example to each and every one of us.
This is the South Africa that Nelson Mandela dreamed about!

If Jeremy looked familiar to you, it's because he was part of The Voice SA in 2016. He made it to the finale and was Lira's crowning contestant in the final Top 4.
