- A video showing an expat toddler performing the national anthem has proven to be very popular
- The young girl is seen belting out the anthem in a supermarket in Amsterdam
- Fellow South Africans in the supermarket were moved to tears when they heard it being sang
Many South Africans move abroad for various reasons, but the general consensus is that a piece of your heart always remains here.
A recent adorable video showing an expat toddler singing the national anthem seems to validate this belief.
Allegra Garofalo can be seen singing the anthem in one of the aisles at a supermarket based in Amsterdam, Holland.
The 4-year-old literally belts it out at full volume, which attracts the attention of nearby shoppers.
SAPeople reported that Allegra’s family moved to Holland when she was just 6 months old.
Her father, Mical Duan Garofalo, confirmed that she’s been learning the national anthem as well as other South African songs while living in the Netherlands.
Briefly.co.za gathered that Allegra had been playing in the snow earlier and was in high spirits throughout the day.
Allegra’s aunt, Elicia Badenhorst, revealed that she was moved to tears when her brother sent her the video.
Elicia also shared that fellow South Africans heard Allegra singing in the supermarket on the day and approached Mical with tears in their eyes.
She said, “Wherever you are in the world, you get very teary eyed when you hear your anthem.”
