- Lerato K let loose on social media with her opinions about #OpenUpTheIndustry
- She feels that SA stars are overlooked and do not receive the attention they deserve
- A tweep put her back in her lane when he reminded her how you need connections to be famous in SA and that talent is not seen for what it is because of that
Debating is a good way to discuss different topics. Lerato Kganyago had an opportunity to share her views in a debate, #OpenUpTheIndustry. She did not pull any punches and exchanged a few words with a follower.
The debate started after Lerato posted a tweet with regard to the manner in which people celebrate international celebrities doing the most but when the topic is about local stars, the debate is always rearing its head.
Briefly.co.za saw the debate breakout over Twitter.
"Rihanna sings, gets endorsements, starts acting! Mzansi: “YAS QUEEN”. Beyoncé sings, gets endorsements, starts acting, Mzansi: “YAS QUEEN TAKE THEM ALL”! South African artist starts singing, gets a role in a movie, and bags huge endorsement. MZANSI: “Open up the Industry,” tweeted Lerato.
When the follower commented that Lerato had missed the point, she retaliated without mixing her words.
Lerato told the follower in no uncertain terms not to discredit her hard work! She went on to say that she had worked her fingers to the bone, starting off at the bottom, something most people are not prepared to do.
The actress also said that when she was at the bottom of the ladder, there were people laughing at her. That’s when she was broke - working at Soweto TV and people thought that was not cool.
Taking offence to what the follower had posted, Lerato told her that the day will come when she will get back what she was dishing out!
