Julius Malema claims that Cyril Ramaphosa does not actually have billions.

Speaking to a crowd in Hamanskraal, the EFF leader said Ramaphosa was just a front for business tycoon Johann Rupert and the wealthy Oppenheimer family.

This was one of several swipes Malema took at Ramaphosa. He also said the president had accepted bribes from Bosasa, according to the The Citizen.

Malema said Ramaphosa should pray that the public protector doesn't find him guilty of lying under oath regarding his denial about receiving funds from Bosasa. Malema added that the president should resign.

As evidence for his claim that Ramaphosa was not really a billionaire, Malema cited Ramaphosa's alleged acceptance of R500 000 from Bosasa.

This refers to a donation that Bosasa reportedly made to Ramaphosa. Malema said Ramaphosa would not have accepted such an amount if he was actually as wealthy as he claims, Briefly.co.za learned.

Malema went so far as to imply that Ramaphosa was a figurehead for white people, saying that no one could be as successful as Ramaphosa without having the backing of the billionaire Oppenheimer family.

This came as part of Malema's wider call for a culture of honesty and accountability to come to South African politics, despite his own party's allegations of corruption relating to the VBS looting scandal.

"We're introducing a culture of serving with honesty, because our people deserve that," Malema said.
