SABC has officially muted Real Talk on SABC3. The broadcaster released a statement recently saying that the show would not be returning for a fifth season.
There have been rumours circulating that the show would not be renewed due to poor ratings after Azania took over. According to the spokesperson of the broadcaster, Neo Momodu, the show was canned because the channel is taking a new direction.
Real Talk, which first aired in July 2016, was initially hosted by Anele Mdoda. Under her reign, it scooped best talk show at the 2017 South African Film and Television Awards.
Briefly.co.za reported on Anele’s departure from the show. The media personality left in June to focus on "personal career prospects.” She expressed her gratitude to the show and the viewers for all the opportunities she had received and for all the support. Controversy followed her exit after it was alleged that the government paid half a million Rands for minister Bathabile Dlamini to appear on the show. The star did hint that she would make a return to the show – obviously not anymore.
