Actress Khanya Mkangisa opens up about hit and run accusations

Actress Khanya Mkangisa has broken her silence after spending the night behind bars for a hit and run incident.

The actress confirmed the incident in an interview with Metro FM this week, claiming that it was "blown out of proportion."

Last week Khanya was apparently nabbed after trying to escape a hit and run. She now says that she had left her contact details after the accident occurred.

"I don't want to get into it but, basically, I was definitely not involved in a hit and run. I don't know how this story blew way out of proportion.”

She said that she couldn’t go into detail about the incident, but there was no case.

However, according to TshisaLIVE, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has confirmed that the star was charged with reckless and negligent driving. The matter is still undergoing further investigation.

Briefly.co.za reported earlier this week that The Queen actress bumped her car into an orange BMW and allegedly fled the scene. Unfortunately for her, “the scene” was her apartment complex. And the owner of the BMW, Katlego Mphuthi, lived in the same complex. She spent the night in the holding cells at Randburg Police Station after security guards at the complex confirmed that she bumped the car. In a statement made to the police, Katlego claimed that Khanya allegedly seemed intoxicated and aggressive when she was confronted.
